If I Had Dreamt

If my vision started blurring,
If my eyelids fluttered,
If my heartbeat started slowing,
If my alertness dropped,

I could have collided head-on
With the quiet woman
The one who sits inside my mind
Hinting with an omen
When my consciousness she can’t find
For it slips away
Into somewhere further still
While I think astray
Struggling between two worlds
Fighting the compulsion
Knowing I must fight this hurdle
To full concentration

But this force, much like the girl
Last week I couldn’t deny
Seduced, the pleasure of a kiss
Into a dream goodbye.
